Most hoggers require a post sreening process to ensure consistancy of the product. We put the screening process inside the WoodWeta instead.

The WoodWeta utilises a very heavy duty drum, mounted on an incline. The rotor disc is mounted inside the drum at the lower end.

The entire drum and rotor disc is isolated from the main chassis using heavy duty rubber mounts and a hydraulic shock absorbing system. This reduces the stress and fatigue felt through the rest of the machine.

The drum rotates, creating a tumbling / boiling action along the entire length. This action causes segregation of the product. Large pieces "float" to the top, while the smaller pieces sink to the bottom, against the screening grates.

The action of the drum draws the small pieces across the grate apertures, allowing those in size to fall through. As the entire area is dynamic, there is no where that the product can sit with out being screened.

The large pieces get drawn down to the rotor disc, where they are processed and fed back up the drum to start the whole screening process again.

The WoodWeta utilises the unique segregation action of a rotating, inclined drum, combined with the tumbling / rubbing action of the product, to loosen and remove the dirt stuck to the outsides of the raw product.

This dirt is separated and swept out the side, while the processed product is retained. Thus product that would have previously been unuseable may be processed and used. Average product can be made into A grade product, with no loss of performance in the rest of the operation.

The removeable screening grates can easily be changed to make different specification product. As the drum is circular the grates can dissipate high shock loads without fatigue. If one is damaged through tramp steel, it is easily repaired or replaced.

The product in the drum is used as a shock absobing material to further deaden the noise and impact, ensuring longest possible life.

The screening area is low speed. Low speed = low wear. No monthly grate changes required. No anvils or shear pins to worry about. No projectiles either, as the drum and outer covers contain them.

Low noise emissions because the product is used as a sound deadening material.

Low dust emissions as the drum and rotor are fully enclosed.

Low fire risk as the fine wood dust is not produced. The WoodWeta tears, not grinds.

Low fuel consumption as the fine, high wearing particles are removed before the rotor gets to touch them.

But above all else, it is simple, and simple things are reliable.
