Ease of maintenance is essential for a hogger. The WoodWeta is designed to be very easy to maintain.
The main arbour assembly is fully self contained and has it's own built in oil reservoir and circulation system.
The arbour cartridge assembly may be easily removed for exchange using standard hand tools by one person.
The bearing preload can be checked and adjusted with out removing the rotor or drive pulley.
The banded 8 row "C'" section belts are tensioned via an automatic hydraulic tensioner. The engine can remain rigid in the chassis, keeping in perfect alignment.
The drum drive is immersed in oil and has an external sight glass for easy reference.
The drum support rollers are oil filled and are easy to check.
The rotor, being vertical, is only exposed to the product in the lower portion, reducing wear to a minimum.
Both sides of the rotor are easily accessible, making tooth changes a breeze.
The drum and rotor mount assembly are rubber mounted with hydraulic shock absorbers. This reduces the vibration and stress imparted into the structure, the raw product in the drum being used to absorb the shock instead.
The low speed screening grates are easily accessed from under the fold away cover on top. They are light enough to be removed by one person.
The radiator is separate from the engine and draws cool fresh air from the front, far away from the enclosed drum and infeed.
The fan is automatically or manually reversible, keeping the large intake screen clear.
The operator can walk around the front of the engine, between the radiator and engine, allowing ease of service to the engine.
All hydraulic pumps are diract drive off the engine. No external belts or couplings with alignment problems here.
The WoodWeta "Soft Start" system reduces clutch wear to a minimum by removing excessive clutch slippage on start up. The clutch is engaged only after the rotor is up to engine speed.
The daily greasing is restricted to the drum drive support bearing. These nipples are placed in a convenient location for ease of service.
The WoodWeta teeth are easy to change, are reversible and rebuildable. One bolt retains them and they may be removed using simple hand tools.
The teeth are very robust and will not shear under normal operation. Maintenance is normally restricted to a daily check.
The WoodWeta is engineered for up time, not down time!
